Vale’s First Time Buyers Guide to Owning a Holiday Home

Embarking on the journey to purchase your first holiday home can seem daunting, with a myriad of options and considerations to navigate. We understand you may have questions, so we've compiled this straightforward guide to buying a static caravan, tailored to assist you in your quest to own your first holiday home.

With award-winning parks, decades of industry experience, and a plethora of entertainment and activities for owners, Vale Holiday Parks is your ideal destination for a coastal retreat to call your own. Let's delve into the key factors to consider when purchasing a holiday home with us.

Selecting a Location As a prominent figure in the holiday home market, we've amassed an exceptional selection of parks for potential owners. Our parks are scattered across Wales and Cornwall, ensuring a perfect park for you and your family is within reach. But how far is too far?
Our ownership expert at our Vale offers some insight. "The general rule of thumb is to aim for a park no more than two hours away from home, especially if you're travelling with young ones. However, if you're drawn to a specific location that's a bit further, there are ways to make it work. For instance, one of our owners in Cornwall faces a four-hour drive to the park. But the family has a fondness for the area. In such cases, the owners typically visit the park less frequently throughout the year but stay for extended periods. There are always ways to make it work for you”. In essence, it all boils down to your personal circumstances and priorities.

Unlimited Holidays One of the many benefits of owning a holiday home at one of our parks is the entitlement to unlimited visits. Whether you want to bring the family, invite some friends, or simply escape from it all by yourself, your holiday home is your tranquil retreat. Vale Holiday Parks operates on a 10-month season for holiday home owners, with parks opening on the 1st of March and closing on the 1st of January.

Choosing Your Holiday Park Many of our holiday homes for sale can be situated at different Vale holiday parks, so you can choose where your holiday home goes to suit your lifestyle. If you're after a holiday park with sea views, consider Fishguard in Pembrokeshire, Porthkerry in South Wales or Liskey Hill in Cornwall. If you prefer a more rural location, then Grondre or Woodland Vale in West Wales could be perfect, or ParcFarm in North Wales. For a holiday park with great facilities and a clubhouse, Clarach Bay or Ocean Heights have lovely facilities to keep the whole family entertained.

Family and Dog Friendly Vale Holiday Parks is a family business, so we understand the importance of making sure our holiday parks are welcoming and fun for everyone. Many of our parks have swimming pools and play areas, and are sited close to golden sandy beaches, castles, and adventure parks meaning that your family will have tons of stuff to do once you get here. If you're looking for somewhere comfortable, safe and welcoming, then Vale Holiday Parks are the place for you. All our holiday parks are also dog friendly, so you can bring your pets on holiday too!

Beautiful Locations Our parks are close to some of the most popular holiday hotspots across Wales and Cornwall such as Perranporth, Aberystwyth, Tenby and New Quay. Many of the holiday parks have peaceful countryside locations and are close to sandy beaches, gorgeous coastlines, bustling towns and family fun attractions.

Establishing Your Budget No guide to buying a holiday home would be complete without discussing budgeting. Evaluating your finances and setting a realistic budget is a critical step in buying a holiday home for the first time. Only a select few can afford to pay the cost upfront without instalments. Those lucky enough to be in this position certainly eliminate some of the administrative tasks associated with purchasing a holiday home, but there are still important factors to consider. Owning a holiday home, while providing invaluable memories, is not a financial investment. The value of caravans depreciates similarly to a car, so this is always worth bearing in mind before you make a large payment.

Exploring the Options The holiday home market is continually growing, with choices as diverse as they are plentiful. We're experts in categorising our models to simplify the process of buying a holiday home for the first time. Our carefully curated range categorises our models into straightforward pricing, so you know exactly what you're getting for your money. Our comfort models are perfect for families embarking on their ownership journeys. Our luxury holiday homes are filled with delightful, homely touches adding an extra layer of comfort to these memory-making spaces. We collaborate with some of the most respected manufacturers in the industry to bring this exceptional selection of caravans to our potential owners. Swift, ABI, Atlas, and Willerby are all part of our offering.
